Softball Recap: Pine Prairie Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Pine Prairie made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Buckeye, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Pine Prairie was the clear victor by a 12-3 margin over Buckeye on Thursday. Pine Prairie might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 contests by six runs or more this season.

Kynnedi Ware was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 18 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run.

In other batting news, Sydney Fontenot was a standout: she scored a run while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Josie Vidrine, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and one triple.

Pine Prairie kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

The victory (which was Pine Prairie's third in a row) raised their record to 25-3. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Buckeye, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-10.

Coming up, Pine Prairie will square off against Anacoco at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Buckeye, they will take on Holy Savior Menard at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
