Wayne Valley has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Wayne Hills Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Wayne Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Saturday.
Wayne Valley posted their biggest victory yet this season on Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 50-30 margin over Piscataway. Wayne Valley has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 20 points or more this season.
Anthony Apicella was his usual excellent self, scoring 23 points along with three steals. He has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Hudson Devine, who scored 12 points along with eight assists.
Meanwhile, Wayne Hills earned a 56-43 victory over Lakeland Regional on Thursday. Given Wayne Hills' advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 93rd, while Lakeland Regional is ranked 342nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Wayne Valley's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-4. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.3 points per game. As for Wayne Hills, their win bumped their record up to 8-3.
Wayne Valley didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Wayne Hills when the teams last played back in February of 2023, but they still walked away with a 38-34 win. Will Wayne Valley repeat their success, or does Wayne Hills have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
