Estill County and Perry County Central are an even 4-4 against one another since May of 2016, but likely not for long. Estill County will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Powell County on Thursday. The Engineers put the hurt on the Pirates with a sharp 13-3 win. The Engineers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by ten runs or more this season.
Spencer Young made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, Estill County let Kenzie Howard and Callee Snowden run wild. Howard went a perfect 4-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double, while Snowden went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs. Those four hits gave Howard a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Maddie Cole, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Estill County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .750. They are 6-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Perry County Central was able to grind out a solid victory over Montgomery County on Saturday, taking the game 6-3. The win continues a trend for the Commodores in their matchups with the Indians: they've now won three in a row.
J Mullins spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on eight hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on M Shepherd, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. M Fugate was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Estill County's record is now 9-13. As for Perry County Central, their record now sits at 19-10.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Estill County hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .337. However, it's not like Perry County Central struggles in that department as they've averaged .383. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Estill County couldn't quite get it done against Perry County Central in their previous meeting back in May of 2025 as they fell 6-2. Can the Engineers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
