The Lake Minneola Hawks had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 42.3 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They blew past Forest 63-33 at home. The result was nothing new for Lake Minneola, who have now won five contests by 30 points or more so far this season.
Dane Thompkins continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 233 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 11.1 yards per carry. Thompkins is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last three games he's played. Jackson Hughes was another key contributor, throwing for 374 yards and four touchdowns while completing 74.1% of his passes.
Despite the loss, Forest had strong showings from Vimel Poole, who rushed for 155 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries, and Jordan Strickland, who gained 145 total yards and three touchdowns.
Lake Minneola's victory was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 6-3. Admittedly, the team didn't face the toughest opposition across those games, namely Forest, South Lake, and Wekiva. As for Forest, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.
Lake Minneola will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Lake Gibson at 7:30 p.m. on November 3rd. As for Forest, they will be playing at home against West Port at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in West Port's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last three games.
