The Beaufort Eagles will venture away from home to take on the James Island Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Beaufort has given up an average of 8.4 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Beaufort saw some tournament action on Friday. They came up short against Lexington, falling 11-2.
Hadley Stevens made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one triple and two RBI. That triple was her first of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask James Island). Everything went their way against Goose Creek on Thursday as they made off with a 21-5 victory. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by ten runs or more this season.
Haylee Holseberg was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over 4.1 innings pitched. Holseberg was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple.
In other batting news, Kendall Wharton was incredible, going 2-for-3 with seven RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gabby Noonan, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
James Island kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Beaufort has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5-1 record this season. As for James Island, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-5.
Beaufort suffered a grim 13-0 defeat to James Island in their previous meeting on March 11th. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
