Emma Parnell was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Meredith Spivey was a standout: she scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. That stolen base was her first of the season. Kenley Morse was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last contest, North Davidson made sure to put some runs up on the board against Northwest Guilford on Thursday. North Davidson put the hurt on Northwest Guilford with a sharp 10-4 win.
Delaney Stilwell looked comfortable as she pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.
On the hitting side, Heidi Barker was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Valerieh Juarez, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4.
North Davidson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.
North Davidson has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. Montgomery Central's victory bumped their record up to 6-2.
North Davidson's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Montgomery Central has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10.2 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for North Davidson, though, as they've been averaging only 4.1 strikeouts. Will Montgomery Central keep running through batters, or will North Davidson buck the trend?
Montgomery Central couldn't quite get it done against North Davidson when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 7-2. Can Montgomery Central avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
