Basketball Recap: Terrence Hayes Key Part of a Team Effort in Cougars Win

It was a proper cat-fight when 21st Century Charter took on University City on Monday. The 21st Century Charter Cougars came out on top against the University City Lions by a score of 57-46.

21st Century Charter's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Terrence Hayes, who went 7 of 14 en route to 17 points in addition to six boards and six steals. Hayes' evening made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Lemetrius Williams, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 15 rebounds.

21st Century Charter has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.9 points per game. As for University City, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. 21st Century Charter will venture away from home to face off against East Chicago Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (East Chicago Central has won eight straight at home, while 21st Century Charter won ten straight on the road dating back to last season), something that'll have to change. As for University City, they will head out to square off against Marquette at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
