Even though the Iowa Colony Pioneers scored an imposing 63 points on Friday, the Angleton Wildcats still came out on top. Angleton skirted past Iowa Colony 65-63.
Leading Angleton to victory were Ka'dyine Jones and Braydon Campbell. Jones dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds, while Campbell scored 20 points along with five rebounds. The match was Jones' fourth in a row with at least ten points. Nathaniel Kabba was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Iowa Colony's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was BJ Gill, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and five steals. Gill scored a full 27% of Iowa Colony's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryce Roquemore, who scored 15 points.
Angleton's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-10. As for Iowa Colony, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Angleton will face off against Foster at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Foster is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home. As for Iowa Colony, they will head out on the road to face off against Clear Springs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Clear Springs presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Iowa Colony in Texas (Clear Springs is ranked 119th, while Iowa Colony is ranked 580th).
