Mesa Verde moved up to 875 from 913 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Golden Empire League. The Mavericks were able to move up by topping West Campus 32-13.
Capital Christian and Marysville played the most contested game in the league this week, with Capital Christian eventually emerging with a 40-34 victory. Justice Shelton-mosley ran for 282 yards and caught 1 pass for 31 yards in the win.
Shelton-mosley was a passing and rushing force as the Cougars beat the Indians.
Shelton-mosley was a beast in the backfield as Capital Christian defeated Marysville.
Jacob Norville and Shelton-mosley gave Phil Grams' team a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Norville threw for 69 yards and 1 touchdown, while Shelton-mosley ran for 282 yards. Nick Valdez also contributed to the rushing game with 75 yards on the ground.
Mesa Verde's Tanner Minton and Conlon Mollard led the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-2 quarterback Minton has thrown for 456 yards this season, while Mollard has 20 catches for 263 yards. Shelton-mosley from the Cougars leads the league in rushing with 1,036 yards.

One of Golden Empire League's premier quarterbacks will go head-to-head with its top pass rusher when the Mavericks and the Cougars face off next week.
Next week's game between Mesa Verde and Capital Christian will feature an aerial matchup as Minton tests his arm against Shelton-mosley's defensive ability.
At the moment, the Mavericks are in fifth, while the Cougars are in first.
Lindhurst lost to Dixon 38-13 last week, the largest margin of any game. Zach Kitchen threw for 90 yards and ran for 136 yards in the loss.
