The Medina Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the West Seneca East Trojans at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Medina focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Friday.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 70-26, which was the final score in Medina's tilt against Lancaster. Medina was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-13.
Despite the defeat, Medina saw an underclassman step up: Preston Woodworth scored 14 points along with 3 steals. Woodworth scored a full 53.8% of Medina's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Meanwhile, West Seneca East pushed their score all the way to 62 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 73-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of Alden. West Seneca East has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Medina's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for West Seneca East, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 0-2.
Medina won a matchup that couldn't have been any closer in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, slipping by West Seneca East 55-54. The rematch might be a little tougher for Medina since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
