AAA Region I recap October 1, 2013
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Wren, who defeated 28th ranked Seneca, 43-24.
Daniel extended the longest winning streak in AAA Region I this week by beating Palmetto, 62-0. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
The Bobcats' dynamic duo of Trey Stephens and Marquis Arnold proved to be unstoppable against the Hurricanes, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Stephens threw for 247 yards and 2 touchdowns and Arnold had 152 yards receiving. Daquan MacKey helped Seneca's passing attack out by catching 5 balls for 38 yards.
He went 12-26 with 1 interception.
Wren's Kelly Bryant and Nathaniel Ekwere led the league in both passing and receiving yards. Bryant has thrown for 703 yards this season, while Ekwere, a 5-foot-10 receiver, has 13 catches for 247 yards. Arnold from Seneca leads the league in rushing with 593 yards.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Daniel takes on Jeff Tate's team. Randy Robinson's team is in first place, while the Hurricanes are in third place.
Wren made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 1,794 from 2,650. The advance stemmed from a 43-24 victory over Bradley Martin's team last week.
