Elkton has been on the road for two straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Harford Tech Cobras at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Last Thursday, Elkton was beaten by the Panthers 57-30.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Jayla Payne, who scored ten points. Another player making a difference was LeeAnn Pugh, who scored eight points.
Meanwhile, Harford Tech came up short against the Cougars on Monday and fell 57-44. While losing is never fun, Harford Tech can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 177th, while the Cougars are ranked 47th).
Like Harford Tech, they lost despite seeing results from several players. Sophia Mace led the charge by scoring 16 points along with six rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mace has scored all season. Jessica Castro was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five assists and two steals.
Elkton's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-12. As for Harford Tech, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost seven of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.
Elkton was dealt a bruising 62-22 defeat at the hands of the Cobras in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. The match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Elkton was down 39-8.
