The Edgewater Eagles put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They breezed by Boone on the road to the tune of 42-14. Given Edgewater's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 11th, while Boone is ranked 150th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Among those leading the charge was Kaden Shields-Dutton, who rushed for 158 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.3 yards per carry. Shields-Dutton's longest rush was for an incredible 80 yards. A.J. Howard did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 141 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Boone's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Isaiah Mizell, who picked up 91 receiving yards and a touchdown, and Laggarius Marshell who rushed for 62 yards and a touchdown.
Edgewater's victory was their ninth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which pushed their record up to 10-0. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 11-3 Jones and 7-3 Apopka (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 58.1% over those games). As for Boone, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Edgewater will take on First Coast at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. First Coast is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Boone, they will stay at home for another week and welcome Lake Mary at 7:00 p.m. on November 10th.
