The Norton Bluejays entered their tilt with the Cambridge Trojans with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Norton walked away with a 40-32 win over Cambridge on Tuesday. Despite the win, that was the fewest points Norton has scored all year.
Eli Jones continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 21 points along with five rebounds. That makes it six consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Norton's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Roman Hauser, who scored nine points along with nine assists and seven rebounds.
Cambridge's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Carson Trompke, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds. The game was Trompke's fifth in a row with at least ten points.
Cambridge struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Norton's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Cambridge, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-4.
Norton will take on Stockton at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Stockton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kansas Rankings (they are ranked 346th, while Norton is ranked 50th). As for Cambridge, they will head out on the road to face off against Southwest on Friday. Southwest is on a three-game streak of home losses, Cambridge a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change.
