Granada Hills Charter is 0-10 against Birmingham since October of 2015 but things could change on Friday. The Highlanders will look to defend their home field against the Patriots at 7:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Friday.
Granada Hills Charter will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up eight points last Friday, then bounced right back against Chatsworth on Friday. The Highlanders took their contest with ease, bagging a 46-17 win over the Chancellors. The victory continues a trend for the Highlanders in their matchups with the Chancellors: they've now won nine in a row.

Dean Rosales continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 125 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 12 carries. Another rusher making a difference was Michael Osuna, who rushed for 81 yards and one TD on only eight carries.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Granada Hills Charter was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 296 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 158 rushing yards in nine consecutive games dating back to last season.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Granada Hills Charter's defense and their four sacks. In that department, Evan Barte-Plange was the leader with two.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Birmingham). They claimed a resounding 69-14 win over Taft. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Patriots' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 256th, while the Toreadors are ranked 664th).
The match pitted two dominant signal callers against one another in Kevin Hawkins and Nathan Swinson. Hawkins had a great game on Friday and threw for 112 yards and three touchdowns on only six passes. Meanwhile, Swinson did his best for the losing side, throwing for 260 yards and a pair of TDs.
Special teams was a major factor in the game for Birmingham, racking up 15 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Paul Turner, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
The victory got Granada Hills Charter back to even at 4-4. As for Birmingham, their win bumped their record up to 5-3.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Granada Hills Charter has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 314.5 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Birmingham struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 206.5 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
