Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Wimberley Texans, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They fell just short of the Brahmas by a score of 35-33. Wimberley's defeat signaled the end of their 14-game winning streak.
When it comes to explaining why Wimberley lost on Friday, one person who can't be blamed is Cody Stoever. Despite the final result, he rushed for 203 yards and five touchdowns, and also threw for 275 yards while completing 77.4% of his passes. Stoever has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last four times he's played.
Leading Bellville to victory were DD Murray and Corrian Hood. Murray rushed for 97 yards and two touchdowns, while Hood rushed for 121 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries. Hood was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 69 yards.
Wimberley's loss dropped their record down to 14-1. As for Bellville, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 15-0.
Wimberley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Bellville is on the road again on Friday and play against Gilmer at 3:00 p.m. on December 15th. One thing working in Gilmer's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last nine matchups.
