The Edgewood Academy Wildcats came tearing into Saturday's contest with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against Lowndes Academy by a score of 48-36. Given Edgewood Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 108th, while Lowndes Academy is ranked 327th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Edgewood Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lindsey Brown led the charge by scoring 22 points along with five steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Brown has scored at least 25% of Edgewood Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery White, who scored 11 points along with five steals.
Edgewood Academy pushed their record up to 9-2 with that win, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 27.38 points. As for Lowndes Academy, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games.
