The Central Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They fell 45-38 to Sheffield. Central was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Sheffield apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2020.
Despite the loss, Central had strong showings from Akeema Rivera, who scored 13 points along with four steals, and Callie Beth Wright, who scored five points along with five rebounds. Those four steals set a new season-high mark for her.
Central has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season. As for Sheffield, their win bumped their record up to 4-5.
Central won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Elkmont at 5:00 p.m. on December 30, 2023. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Alabama (Elkmont is ranked 187th, while Central is ranked 173rd). As for Sheffield, they will head out on the road to face off against Hatton at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
