The Regents Academy Eagles had to kick off their season on the road on Saturday, but they showed no ill effects. They snuck past Veritas Classical Academy with a 55-51 win.
Despite the loss, Veritas Classical Academy still got an impressive performance from Ty Merrill, who scored 31 points. The game was Merrill's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jake Strahan, who scored 12 points.
Regents Academy's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Veritas Classical Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-7.
Regents Academy will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Athens Christian Preparatory Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 12, 2024. Veritas Classical Academy and Community Christian will round out the year against one another at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday at. Community Christian is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak.
