Doniphan-Trumbull has won three straight games at home, while Centennial has won three straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Doniphan-Trumbull Cardinals will host the Centennial Broncos at 7:30 p.m. Doniphan-Trumbull has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 190 points over their last three contests.
Last Saturday, Doniphan-Trumbull beat Adams Central 56-48.
Doniphan-Trumbull's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jack Poppe led the charge by going 6 of 12 on his way to 17 points along with six assists and six boards. Parker Volk was another key player, going 6 for 10 en route to 14 points and six rebounds.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Centennial's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell 52-44 to Central City.
Doniphan-Trumbull will need focus on slowing down Devin Slawnyk, one of several Centennial players who made an impact when they last played. He dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten boards. Slawnyk is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: he's pulled down at least ten every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Sam Ehlers, who posted 11 points and six assists.
Doniphan-Trumbull is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.6 points per game. As for Centennial, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-4.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Doniphan-Trumbull has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 25.8 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Centennial struggles in that department as they've been averaging 32.8 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Everything went Doniphan-Trumbull's way against Centennial when the teams last played back in January of 2024, as Doniphan-Trumbull made off with a 63-43 victory. Will Doniphan-Trumbull repeat their success, or does Centennial have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
