Mt. Zion is a perfect 10-0 against Charleston since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Braves will challenge the Trojans at 4:30 p.m. Mt. Zion will be strutting in after a victory while Charleston will be coming in after a loss.

Mt. Zion will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any goals on Saturday, then bounced right back against Taylorville on Tuesday. The Braves put the hurt on the Tornadoes with a sharp 8-2 win. The result was nothing new for Mt. Zion, who have now won nine games by three goals or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Charleston's offense. They came up short against Mahomet-Seymour on Tuesday, falling 9-0. While losing is never fun, Charleston can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 338th, while Mahomet-Seymour are ranked 122nd).

Sadie Phillips, who's played more minutes than anyone else on the Charleston squad sat out for Tuesday's contest. With Phillips sidelined, Carlie Lemons got her first action of the season.

Mt. Zion has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 40 goals over those nine games. As for Charleston, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-11.

Everything went Mt. Zion's way against Charleston in their previous matchup two weeks ago, as Mt. Zion made off with a 9-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Braves since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
