Baseball Recap: Lexington Extends Winning Streak to Three

Lexington lost to Ridgeview back in May of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Minutemen blew past the Mustangs 11-1. Considering the Minutemen have won six matches by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Braeden Barber made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, Lexington let Blaine Friedmansky and Kayden Knight run wild. Friedmansky got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI, while Knight went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Friedmansky is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

Lexington always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .513. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The victory was the third in a row for Lexington, bringing their record up to 9-7. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Ridgeview, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 7-9-1.

Looking ahead, Lexington will welcome Tri-Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Minutemen's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Vikings have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season. As for Ridgeview, they will head out on the road to square off against LeRoy at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
