B District 1 (8 Man) recap Oct. 16, 2012
Ringwood was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from eighth to fifth in B District 1 (8 Man). The Red Devils defeated Medford 47-26 earlier in the week.
Pond Creek-Hunter extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Merritt, 52-24. The win marks seventh in a row for the the Panthers.
Josh Irvin put up the best numbers through the air as Pond Creek-Hunter defeated the Oilers. He finished with nine completions for 186 yards and two touchdowns. Irvin's favorite target this week was Jayden Chain, who caught two passes for 75 yards.
Quenten Thayer provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Covington-Douglas bested Waukomis. He completed three passes for 55 yards and one touchdown and also ran for 179 yards. Thayer's favorite target this week was Jonah Bigbey, who caught one pass for 44 yards.
Tanner Misak was the best wideout in the league this week as the Cardinals lost to Ringwood. Misak racked up five receptions for 127 yards. Ryan Kilian helped Medford's passing attack out by catching three balls for 46 yards.
Thanks to the talents of Irvin and Brady Krittenbrink David Kerr's team has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Irvin leads the league in passing with 748 yards, while Krittenbrink has rushed for 1176 yards this season. The Wildcats' Dylan Daugherty leads the league in receiving yards with 301 on 12 catches.
The marquee game in B District 1 (8 Man) this week will be the clash between Covington-Douglas and Garber. The Wildcats enters the contest ranked 11th in the state, while the Wolverines ranks ninth.
Covington-Douglas' Gage Smith is a mere 56 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season. Smith has rushed for 944 yards on 113 carries so far this year.
Laverne took down Mark Harmon's team 54-12 last week, the largest margin of any game.
