Danvers is 9-1 against Saugus since May of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Falcons will be playing in front of their home fans against the Sachems at 10:00 a.m. Danvers is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.7 runs per game this season.
On Wednesday, Danvers was able to grind out a solid win over Masconomet Regional, taking the game 6-2.
Skylar Coakley was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off seven hits. Coakley was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.
In other batting news, Gianna Ferraro was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Those two hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Addi McCarty, who earned one RBI, one run, and one stolen base.
Danvers was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Saugus entered their tilt with Watertown on Friday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They blew past the Raiders 16-4.
Alannah Duong was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and one double. Danica Schena was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double.
Danvers is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Saugus, their win bumped their record up to 8-5.
Everything went Danvers' way against Saugus in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Danvers made off with an 11-4 victory. Will the Falcons repeat their success, or do the Sachems have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
