The Brookfield Academy Blue Knights's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They took a 62-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of Brookfield Central.
Brookfield Academy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Madison York, who scored 19 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points York has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Amelia Rigel, who scored 13 points.
Brookfield Central was led to victory by Josie Piurkowski and Dylan Romero. Piurkowski scored 21 points along with nine rebounds and three steals, while Romero scored 18 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. Grace Luedke was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with nine rebounds.
Brookfield Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Brookfield Central, their win ended a ten-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-12.
Brookfield Academy and St. Francis will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 22nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Brookfield Central, they will stay at home for another game and welcome West Allis Hale at 7:00 p.m. on January 19th.
