The Murrah Mustangs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their eighth straight defeat. Their tough 62-42 loss to Clinton might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Murrah can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 187th, while the Arrows are ranked 32nd).
Clinton was led to victory by Jatoi Johnson and Taelar Felton. Johnson dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds, while Felton scored 23 points along with five assists and two steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Felton has scored at least a third of Clinton's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Eyana Mckinley, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Murrah dropped their record down to 4-21 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Clinton, their win bumped their record up to 17-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Murrah will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Mavericks at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd. As for Clinton, they will take on the Jaguars at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Karley Robinson and Felton.
