Caprock Academy suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Saturday. Their tough 53-28 loss to Soroco might stick with them for a while. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Caprock Academy has suffered against Soroco since January 21, 2017.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Pennie Underwood, who scored six points along with 11 rebounds and two blocks. That's the first time this season that she pulled down eight or more rebounds.
In what's become a running theme this season, Plateau Valley gave their fans yet another huge win on Saturday. They claimed a resounding 58-26 victory over Hayden at home. Given Plateau Valley's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 129th, while Hayden is ranked 292nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Caprock Academy's loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Plateau Valley, they pushed their record up to 7-2 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home.
Caprock Academy came up short against Plateau Valley when the teams last played back in January of 2023, falling 46-33. Can Caprock Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
