The Desert Heights Prep Yote will square off against the Superior Panthers at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Desert Heights Prep has three straight victories, Superior has seven straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Desert Heights Prep is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Valley Lutheran a 24-0 shutout on Saturday. Give the Yote's pitching crew some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.
Cayle Haskell and Jayven Reyes made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Haskell struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Reyes pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in eight consecutive appearances. At the plate, Haskell went 1-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI, while Reyes got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs and one RBI. That's the most runs Reyes has posted since back in February.

Desert Heights Prep's speedy runners might be the difference in Saturday's match. The Yote have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6.1 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Superior, though, as they've been averaging only 1.4 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Desert Heights Prep continue to outrun the ball?
