Laurel-Concord-Coleridge has been on the road for four straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Wynot Blue Devils at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Laurel-Concord-Coleridge focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Monday.
Laurel-Concord-Coleridge fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Hartington-Newcastle but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 52-50.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Tyler Olson, who scored 15 points along with three steals. He is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Gibson Roberts was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Wynot strolled past Hartington-Newcastle with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 66-52. Given Wynot's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 92nd, while Hartington-Newcastle is ranked 203rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Laurel-Concord-Coleridge has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-11 record this season. As for Wynot, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season.
Laurel-Concord-Coleridge might still be hurting after the 70-50 defeat they got from Wynot in their previous matchup back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Wynot's Zack Foxhoven, who scored 23 points along with eight assists and five rebounds. Now that Laurel-Concord-Coleridge knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
