The Katy Tigers had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 35 points), and they went ahead and made it eight on Friday. They claimed a resounding 49-3 win over Katy Taylor on the road. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 35-0.
Katy was led to victory by Romel Jordan and Tremayne Hill. Jordan rushed for 87 yards and four touchdowns, while Hill rushed for 183 yards and a touchdown while picking up 9.2 yards per carry. Hill is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last seven games he's played. Chase Johnsey was in the mix too, providing Katy with two touchdowns.
Katy's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 9-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 49.2 points per game. As for Katy Taylor, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-5.
Katy will square off against Fort Bend Travis at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Fort Bend Travis is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Katy Taylor, they will take on George Ranch at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
