This season hasn't been kind to the King Academy Knights, who are still winless after their fifth match. They took a 58-43 bruising from South Aiken Baptist Christian on Thursday. King Academy was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as South Aiken Baptist Christian apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2019.
South Aiken Baptist Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Colman Smith, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 17 rebounds. That makes it six consecutive games in which Smith has scored at least 25% of South Aiken Baptist Christian's points. Hunter Dennis was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
King Academy has fallen quite a ways from their 23-7 record last season and are now at 0-5. As for South Aiken Baptist Christian, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. King Academy won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Newberry Academy at 6:30 p.m. on January 5th. As for South Aiken Baptist Christian, they will be playing at home against Curtis Baptist at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Curtis Baptist is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
