Baseball Recap: Hoxie Sets Scoring Season-High Against Osceola

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hoxie). They were the clear victors by a 17-2 margin over the Osceola Seminoles on Tuesday. The Mustangs not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 3rd.

Hoxie let Dalton Neely and Colby Bullard run wild. Neely scored four runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-3, while Bullard scored three runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2. Neely is becoming a predictor of Hoxie's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 4-1 (and 1-10 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Hayden McIntire, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Hoxie always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .645. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.

The victory snapped Hoxie's losing streak at six games and leaves them with a 5-11 record. As for Osceola, they dropped their record down to 2-12-1 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hoxie will take on Rivercrest at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Osceola, they will square off against Newport at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Greyhounds will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Seminoles surely won't give up without a fight.
