Sunshine State - South recap September 4, 2013
Seffner Christian's Marcus Richardson rumbled for the longest rushing play in Sunshine State - South this season in his game against Cornerstone Charter Academy last week. Richardson scampered for 73 yards on the play and finished with 118 on the day as his team bested the Ducks.
Master's Academy was the team made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from sixth to third in the league. Earlier in the week, the Eagles triumphed over Mount Dora Bible 55-39.
Cole Iturrioz was a passing and rushing force as Master's Academy bested the Bulldogs.
Iturrioz was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 26 carries, he ran for 145 yards as Robert East's team fell to Seffner Christian. Teammate Brandon Dickens added to the ground attack by rushing for 110 yards.
Caleb Newman put up the best numbers through the air as Steve Lewis' team topped Justin Dottavio's team. He had a total of 2 completions for 39 yards.
Orlando was the best receiver in Sunshine State - South this week as the Ducks fell to the Crusaders. Orlando tallied 3 receptions for 46 yards.
Cornerstone Charter Academy's Jack Scott and Orlando have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Scott has thrown for 72 yards this season, while Orlando, a 5-foot-8 receiver, has 5 catches for 77 yards. Dickens from the Eagles leads the league in rushing with 247 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Seffner Christian takes on Master's Academy. The Crusaders are in first place, while the Eagles are in third place.
Seffner Christian took down the Ducks 57-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. Newman ran for 73 yards in the win.
