Even though the Mountainside Wolves have not done well against the San Pasqual Valley Warriors recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Mountainside walked away with a 40-28 victory over San Pasqual Valley. This was payback for Mountainside, who suffered a 77-12 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Leading Mountainside to victory were Jacob Saenz and Andrew Watkins. Saenz scored 9 points, while Watkins dropped a double-double on 11 points and 19 rebounds.
Despite the defeat, San Pasqual Valley saw an underclassman step up: Kage Hill scored 9 points along with 6 steals.
San Pasqual Valley struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Mountainside pulled down 15.
Mountainside's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for San Pasqual Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
Mountainside will head out on the road to face off against Madison Highland Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for San Pasqual Valley, they will be playing at home against Ray at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday.
