For the first time this season, Montbello will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will square off against the Vista PEAK Prep Bison at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
If Montbello beats Vista PEAK Prep with six runs on Saturday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matches with that exact score. The Warriors never let Skyview get on the board and left with a 6-0 win on Monday. That six run margin sets a new team best for the Warriors this season.

The result came thanks to Nicolas Torres's shutout, as he gave up just a hit and racked up 11 Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Montbello is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-4 otherwise.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Santiago Nava, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Erik Gutierrez also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Vista PEAK Prep, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 21-1 margin over Aurora Central on Wednesday. The Bison's hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Eli Garcia was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.
In other batting news, Karter Robertson was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two triples, five RBI, and three runs. Those two triples gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Domenic Montoya, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double.
Vista PEAK Prep always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .750. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
The victory made it two in a row for Montbello and bumps their season record up to 4-5. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for Vista PEAK Prep, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-7.
