In what's become a running theme this season, the Nitro Wildcats gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 69-22 victory over Poca at home. While fans of Nitro might be used to big wins, the 47-point margin marked the team's biggest win yet this season.
Natalie Smith continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 16 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. She is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 16 or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Hailey Newsome, who scored ten points along with four steals.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Poca struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Nitro racked up 18 assists.
The win (which was Nitro's third in a row) raised their record to 10-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.3 points per game. As for Poca, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-11.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Nitro won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on January 24th. Hopefully Ripley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 last Monday. Poca's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Irish at 7:00 p.m. on January 25th. Hopefully Charleston Catholic focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Wednesday.
