Davis Sr. is 0-3 against Del Oro since April of 2024 but things could change on Friday. The Blue Devils will take on the Golden Eagles at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Davis Sr. is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They skirted past Mountain House 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Blue Devils have posted since April 4th.
The team relied heavily on Isabella Trask, who fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-4. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Gracie Martinez was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Davis Sr. lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mountain House didn't launched any home runs.
Meanwhile, Del Oro waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with 14 straight wins... but they left with 15. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Bulldogs. Considering the Golden Eagles have won 16 games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Mikayla Finn tossed a big game, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Del Oro let Caelyn Campos and Avery Enyart run wild. Campos went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one double, while Enyart went 1-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Chloe Champas also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.
Davis Sr.'s record is now 12-13-2. As for Del Oro, their win was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 26-1.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Davis Sr. hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .317. However, it's not like Del Oro struggles in that department as they've averaged .397. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Davis Sr. suffered a grim 11-4 defeat to Del Oro in their previous matchup back in April. Can the Blue Devils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
