The Piqua Indians's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They fell to Greenville 53-48. Piqua was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Greenville apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Despite the loss, Piqua still got an impressive performance from Tate Kuhlman, who scored 26 points along with five rebounds. Kuhlman scored a full 54.2% of Piqua's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mickey Anderson, who scored eight points along with six steals.
Even though they lost, Piqua were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Greenville only pulled down four offensive rebounds.
Liam Jasenski was the offensive standout of the game as he scored 18 points. That's the first time this season that he scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Chace Drew, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.
Piqua's loss was their fifth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 2-9. As for Greenville, their win ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-8.
Piqua's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Troy at 7:30 p.m. on January 9th. Greenville won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Eaton at 7:15 p.m. on January 6th.
