Massac County put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 7-2 victory over the Harrisburg Bulldogs. Seven seems to be a good number for the Patriots as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Zach Maurer was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brayden Jennings, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Devin Harris also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Massac County pushed their record up to 8-0 with the victory, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.4 runs over those games. As for Harrisburg, they now have a losing record of 5-6.
