Basketball Recap: Millard North Piles Up the Points Against Buena Vista

Millard North was handed a heart-breaking three-point defeat in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against Buena Vista on Saturday. The Millard North Mustangs blew past the Buena Vista Bison, posting a 70-42 victory. That looming 70-42 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Mustangs yet this season.

Millard North's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Derek Rollins led the charge by dropping a double-double on 15 points and 14 rebounds. That's the most boards Rollins has posted since back in January of 2024. Coriahnn Gallatin was another key player, going 6 of 10 on his way to 17 points.

Millard North was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Buena Vista only racked up ten assists.

Despite the loss, Buena Vista had strong showings from LC Doss, who posted 15 points and six rebounds, and Zhyaire Partee, who put up six points along with six rebounds and four steals. Doss' afternoon made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandon Jarmon, who posted 11 points and five rebounds.

Millard North is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.8 points per game. As for Buena Vista, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-3.

Millard North wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 64-61 loss against Papillion-LaVista South on the 30th. As for Buena Vista, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 76-74 defeat against Millard West on the 30th.
