Basketball Game Preview: Ramsey Rams vs. Edinburg/South Fork Ponies

The Ramsey Rams are taking a road trip to challenge the Edinburg/South Fork Ponies at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Last Monday, Ramsey lost to Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg at home by a 46-27 margin. While losing is never fun, the Rams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 555th, while Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg are ranked 236th).

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Kelsey Hayes, who posted seven points and 21 boards. That's the most rebounds she has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Daisy Allen, who had nine points and six boards.

Even though they lost, Ramsey smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in eight consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Edinburg/South Fork was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They received a blow as they fell 52-36 to Staunton.

Edinburg/South Fork's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-13. As for Ramsey, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season.
