The Winfield Warriors lost against the Fulton Hornets back in October of 2016, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Winfield took a 22-13 hit to the loss column at the hands of Fulton.
Fulton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Malik Douglas led the charge by rushing for 106 yards and a touchdown. Douglas was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 56 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabriel Defily, who picked up 100 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Winfield's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Fulton, their win ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Winfield will square off against St. Charles West at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Charles West is on a five-game streak of home losses, Winfield a four-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. As for Fulton, they will head out on the road to face off against Jefferson City at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Jefferson City presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Fulton in Missouri (Jefferson City is ranked 65th, while Fulton is ranked 270th).
