The GV Christian Guardians's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 42-41 to White Pine. If GV Christian was looking for revenge after losing 61-41 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Several Guardians players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cade Johnson, who scored nine points along with three steals. It was the first time this season that Johnson grabbed two or more steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Deomani Loveland, who scored 14 points along with three steals.
GV Christian's loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 7-12. As for White Pine, their win bumped their record up to 10-16.
GV Christian will head out on the road to face off against the Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Needles knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 22 matches -- so hopefully the Guardians like a good challenge. As for White Pine, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Lions at 6:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Nevada (Awaken Christian is ranked 62nd, while the Bobcats are ranked 84th).
