The Johnson Warriors will take on the Armijo Royals at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
As a matter of fact, Johnson put up the most points they have all season on Monday. Everything went their way against Burbank as Johnson made off with a 31-2 win. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Titans recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Kayla Madison was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all six of her plate appearances. What's more, she posted three hits, the most she's had since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lily Munoz, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Valicianna Collins-Hogan was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of her six plate appearances.
Johnson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .545. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Armijo was able to grind out a solid win over Fairfield on Monday, taking the game 11-6. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Royals.
Like Johnson, Armijo also got a great game from a two-way player: Brooklyn Talbot. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). With that strong performance, Talbot is now averaging an impressive 5.2 strikeouts per game. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Angel Arias was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 2.2 runs per game. Another player making a difference was Harmony Gillis, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4.
Johnson pushed their record up to 5-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Armijo, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.
Wednesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Johnson hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .379. However, it's not like Armijo struggles in that department as they've averaged .495. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
