The Academy at Palumbo Griffin came tearing into Tuesday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 57-50 win over George Washington. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Academy at Palumbo also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.
Despite the loss, George Washington still got an impressive performance from Anderson Dorvil, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 14 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Aidan Berry, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds.
Academy at Palumbo has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season. As for George Washington, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-5.
Academy at Palumbo will be playing in front of their home fans against Frankford at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Frankford focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 last Monday. As for George Washington, they will head out on the road to square off against Science Leadership Academy at Beeber at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Science Leadership Academy at Beeber is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 65.6 points per game.
