Moon Valley extended their losing streak to 16 on Wednesday, dropping them down to 2-16. They lost 17-6 to the Goldwater Bulldogs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-0 on Monday.
Vida Cedillo made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. Another player making a difference was Melly Anau, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
As for Goldwater, their victory ended a seven-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-14. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by ten runs or more this season.
On Goldwater's side, Kennedy Fox was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. What's more, Fox posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season.
In other batting news, London Farmer was a standout: she got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Lacie Crugar was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Moon Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Goldwater, they will take on Flagstaff at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 10.2 runs per game this season.
