Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ankeny). They blew past the Ames Little Cyclones 55-3 on Friday. Given the Hawks' advantage in MaxPreps' Iowa football rankings (they are ranked seventh, while the Little Cyclones are ranked 179th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Ankeny pushed their record up to 5-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 41.5 points over those games. As for Ames, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.

Coming up, Ankeny will be playing in front of their home fans against Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers' defense has only allowed 12.4 points per game this season, so the Hawks' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Ames, they will head out on the road to face off against Dallas Center-Grimes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
