The Middleton Vikings waltzed into their match Tuesday with four straight wins but they left with five. They strolled past Mountain View with points to spare, taking the game 63-44. Given Middleton's advantage in MaxPreps' Idaho basketball rankings (they are ranked 31st, while Mountain View is ranked 101st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Middleton found their leader in underclassman Zoey Blackwell, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and three steals. The contest was Blackwell's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Elsie Wyatt was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with six rebounds.
Middleton has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. As for Mountain View, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.
Middleton and Hillcrest will round out the year against one another at 4:45 p.m. on December 28th at. Mountain View will be home for the holidays to greet Timberline at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
