The Marion County Red Raiders won the last time they faced the Brilliant Tigers, and things went their way on Friday too. The stars were shining brightly for Marion County in a 50-34 victory over Brilliant. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Marion County.
Several Tigers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Karagan Stanford, who scored nine points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hadlee Sanderson, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds.
Marion County pushed their record up to 7-4 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.8 points per game. As for Brilliant, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-5 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Marion County and Phil Campbell will face off at 3:00 p.m. on December 18th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Phil Campbell will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 207th, while Marion County is ranked 96th). Brilliant won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Haleyville at 4:00 p.m. on December 16th.
