The O'Connor Eagles will head out on the road to take on the Xavier College Prep Gators at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.
O'Connor proved they can win big on Friday (they won by 14) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past Liberty 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Eagles have posted since February 27th.
Daisy Herrera spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits and racked up nine Ks.
On the hitting side, O'Connor let Sydnee Williams and Italia Carpio run wild. Williams went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double, while Carpio went 1-for-4 with one triple and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Xavier College Prep got themselves on the board against Millennium on Wednesday, but Millennium never followed suit. They were the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over the Tigers. Considering the Gators have won 13 contests by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Sydney Root was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Makenzie Latvaaho was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Sariah McNabb was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one double.
Xavier College Prep was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .378. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Millennium only posted a batting average of .160.
Xavier College Prep's record now sits at 19-4. As for O'Connor, they now have a winning record of 12-11.
Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. O'Connor hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .350. However, it's not like Xavier College Prep struggles in that department as they've averaged .340. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
O'Connor couldn't quite finish off Xavier College Prep in their previous matchup back in May of 2025 and fell 2-0. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
